Why Jojoba?

Jojoba (pronounced ho-HO-ba) is a liquid wax pressed from the seeds of a desert shrub native to Southern California, Arizona, and northwestern Mexico. It’s one of the few plant oils that mimics the skin’s natural sebum, which means it absorbs easily, won’t clog pores, and supports healing without irritation. It’s shelf-stable, scent-neutral, and gentle enough for freshly healed ink, tender skin, and everyday wear.

We source it because it works. But also because it’s homegrown. 

I was born in Southern California. So was this oil. And so was a whole movement of Latinx punks, femmes, and weirdos who carved out space in the margins and made it loud. From East L.A. basement shows to desert DIY venues like The Vex, California’s punk scene was never just about music—it was about visibility, resistance, and making your own care when no one else would.

That’s the energy we carry forward. Every bottle is a nod to that legacy: rooted in the rough, femme-held, unapologetically visible.
